2026 Trip - Day 13: Pattaya best dinner yet

Today I woke up late, around 10. While I was taking a shower, I accidentally dropped my favorite toothbrush on the bathroom floor. I was devastated. I had specially ordered that toothbrush online while I was in Australia because the bristles are very thin and a brush head is large and long, and I really like the way they feel when I brush my teeth. I have been using this type of toothbrush for a long time and I love it.

The moment it touched the bathroom floor I felt completely grossed out. I knew I wouldn’t be able to put that thing in my mouth again, no matter how much I washed it. So I threw it away immediately. Even if I want the same one again, it would be impossible to find in a normal store here.

Later I went to Top supermarket and bought two packets of cheese spicy instant noodles. This has become one of my favorite finds in Thailand. One packet costs 10 baht, but two are 16 baht. I had that for lunch. For breakfast I only had a small chocolate drink in a box for 10 baht, but it was actually delicious.

I also had to buy a new toothbrush. All the toothbrushes sold here have small heads, which is normal, but I was still a bit sour about losing my old one.

It was very hot outside, so I went back to the hostel to rest and spent some time on my laptop. Later in the afternoon Olga and I went out again to a nearby market. I bought some papaya for 35 baht. It was actually the first time I’ve eaten fruit in Thailand other than mango sticky rice. For some reason I always find it harder to spend money on fruit than on unhealthy snacks.

After that we went to the “Russian market.” I didn’t buy anything there, but nearby I found a stall and ordered rice with chicken instead. It was delicious. Honestly, I think it might be the best food I have had in Pattaya so far. I already want to go back again tomorrow.

In the evening, Olga was shouting on the phone a lot and sounded very frustrated. Because of the war happening in Iran, her flight home today from Russia through Abu Dhabi was cancelled yesterday. She spent hours trying to reach customer service, but most of the time she was either on hold or chatting with some AI system online.
