2026 Day 1 - First Stop: Bangkok, Thailand

I arrived at Bangkok Airport in the evening, before I arrived, I have prebooked my accommodation, I decided to stay overnight in Bangkok instead of go directly to Pattaya. I booked a private room nearby for about $15 AUD via booking.com, which felt like a great deal. I used the Bolt app to get from the airport to the hotel. I noticed Bolt was slightly cheaper than Grab. My card was not connected to the app, so I had to pay in cash. The driver did not have small change, so I ended up paying 110 baht instead of the 105 baht shown in the app. Luckily, it was only a small difference. Important: At the airport to walk out to the waiting area.

The hotel was called RQ. The room was spacious, which was a nice surprise. Unfortunately, the bed was hard as a rock. It honestly felt like sleeping on the floor. The bathroom size was fine, though the sink was quite small. That seems pretty normal in Thailand.

Since it was already late and I was still full from the airplane food, I did not feel like going out again. There were two complimentary bottles of water in the fridge, which made me happy. I did not need to go searching for a shop. I just relaxed and called it a night.
